Just a sample of some of the letters that we receive: Dear Lee Vasey Although I would never normally write a letter like this, afraid of being thought of as some creepy nut-job fan/stalker, I feel that having seen you at my cousin's wedding a couple of weeks ago I must write to you and commend you on an excellent show. I had gone expecting the same old same old, a predictable DJ and a tired-looking and tireder-sounding band playing the same crappy predictable songs, badly sung and badly played. But no, a lively show with singers and musicians singing and playing their socks off: the songs were a bit obvious, some Abba (spare me!), some Beatles (what a surprise!!!), bit of rock n roll, but some of the arrangements were surprising and gave a whole new lease of life to songs which have come to be thought of as standards on the wedding/party/cabaret circuit. It was good to see the singers taking turns and handling the various styles with equal ease, and the brass section both accompanying the songs and taking the lead to add a real 'sizzle' to the tunes - pity about some of those dance moves though... All in all it was a great night, the perfect end to a perfect day; my cousin and his new bride were very happy at how well it all turned out and both they and myself wouldn't hesitate to recommend the band to anyone looking for a guaranteed good time. Thank you very much Yours sincerely J.B. Jenkins, M.D.B.H. (Rtd.)------------------------------------------------------ Dear Lee I just wanted to drop you a little note to say how much I enjoy the band playing in the Brickies on a Sunday lunchtime. I used to come to see you in Chicago ' s - what a dump - and then when you went to the tiny Trowel Å Hammer on the roundabout at the top of St. Stephens. I love the stuff you play, it ' s great to hear a live band playing some great music when there ' s so much crap with keyboards and drum machines. And boy bands! God, don ' t get me started on boy bands, pretty-boy talentless wasters, and all of them puffs. I remember when I was in the army what we used to do with pretty-boy shirt-lifters - that used to stop them ... Anyway, keep up the good work, long live live music, and keep bringing those lovely singers up on stage, especially the blonde one with the tight top ... So, cheers mate, you ' re the best. See you Sunday! Tim McVeigh |
